Village Adoption : Khanbodbachiwadi

Village Adoption By Kasba Ganpati : Khanbodbachiwadi

About Khandobawadi

  • Khandobawadi is a hamlet of not more than 1000 people and is located in the Pathardi taluka of Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra.
  • Majority of the villagers are farmers and are highly affected by the drought for the last several years.
  • This parched village lacks basic facilities such as drinking water, proper sanitation, and so on.
  • Because the village does not have a panchayat, the possibilities of any infrastructure development are very rare in the absence of an administrative body.

Purpose of adopting Khandobawadi

  • Because Khandobawadi is badly affected by drought for the past many years and has very poor basic facilities, Shri Kasba Ganpati Mandal decided to adopt it for five years.

Adopting Khandobawadi

hri Kasba Ganpati Mandal is instrumental in improving the quality of life at Khandobawadi and including it in the growth of rural India. Shri Kasba Ganpati Mandal has taken up several projects that fall under the following categories:

  • Water and eco-friendly sanitation
  • Education
  • Housing and basic infrastructure
  • Chemical free farming
  • Digital health for the community

As an immediate help to villagers, Shri Kasba Ganpati Mandal appealed citizens and devotees to donate one fist of food grain in the Ganpati Festival 2015. Citizens and devotees responded in large and donated more than 77 quintal of food grain. Shri Kasba Ganpati Mandal also donated an equal amount of food grain to the people immediately. Furthermore, Mandal donated sarees to women of Khandobawadi.

Shri Kasba Ganpati Mandal completed the following projects in quick time:

  • Setting up a library of books (having a wide range of books) and computers
  • Setting up a gym with required equipment for better health of youth
  • Constructing an overhead water tank of one lakh liter capacity
  • Water ATM – providing mineral water for drinking to all households

Needless to say that residents of Khandobawadi thanked Shri Kasba Ganpati for quickly finishing up the work of overhead water tank. Mandal requested Chief Minister of Maharashtra to include Khandobawadi in the Jalyukt-shivar Yojana, a project that aims to make Maharashtra a drought-free state by 2019.

Plan for Khandobawadi

  • Constructing an approach road to the village
  • Ensuring that the chemical-free farming is performed
  • Setting up infrastructure for digital health for the community
